Two and a half hour guided tours will take audiences of up to 75 people at a time to view newly-created, site specific dances performed by over 50 dancers from our region. Now in its 21st year of partnership with San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), San Diego Dance Theater’s Trolley Dances will utilize the trolley’s green and orange lines to bring viewers to two new low-income housing complexes along the route; including Villa Encantada at the Encanto/62nd stop and to the outdoor plaza on the MTS owned Park 12 complex at the 12th and Imperial stop. Later the group will be ushered to the Federal Courthouse and then to the Intercontinental Hotel at Broadway and Harbor Drive.

Choreographers selected by Ms. Isaacs to create site specific dances include Angel Acuna, Kevin Jenkins, Regula Mahler, Anjanette Maraya-Ramey, Lara Segura, and Jeremy Zapanta. Several will travel from out of town to San Diego this fall to create their new works, including Mahler, who will travel from Bern, Switzerland, to contribute to this project. None of these choreographers have previously created a dance for SDDT’s Trolley Dances and the company is excited to see the work that is produced.

Don't forget, your Trolley Dances ticket is good for riding the trolley the entire day!
